Pavement Temperature Formula
The following two example problems outline the steps and information needed to calculate the Pavement Temperature.
Pavement–Air Temperature Relationship
Sunny day: PT = AT + 50 °F
Partly cloudy: PT = AT + 25 °F
Cloudy day: PT = AT + 10 °F
Variables:
- PT is the Pavement Temperature (RF)
- AT is the the air temperature (F)
To calculate the estimated temperature of pavement, simply add 30 degrees to the air temperature.
How to Calculate Pavement Temperature?
The following steps outline how to calculate the Pavement Temperature.
- First, determine the air temperature (F).
- Next, determine the ${V2}.
- Next, gather the formula from above = PT = AT + 30.
- Finally, calculate the Pavement Temperature.
- After inserting the variables and calculating the result, check your answer with the calculator above.
Example Problem :
Use the following variables as an example problem to test your knowledge.
enter the air temperature (F) = 70
PT = AT + 30 = ?
