Prorogation Delay Formula

The formula used by the propagation delay calculator above is as follows:

PD = (B – A) / S

  • Where PD is propagation delay in ms
  • B is the position of router B (m)
  • A is the position of router A (m)
  • S is the propogation speed (this is often close to the speed of light which is close to 299,000,000 m/s but it depends on the medium of travel.
