What is a Bushel?

A bushel is a unit of volume used in the United States for measuring agricultural products such as grains, fruits, and vegetables. One US bushel equals 8 US dry gallons (32 US dry quarts), which is 2150.42 in³ (about 35.239 L). Commercial grain weight conversions use a commodity standard mass per bushel. Actual measured test weight is the mass of grain filling a specified volume and can differ from that trade-weight convention. This calculator uses standard mass and does not estimate storage volume.
