Compare a treadmill-desk work block with seated computer work, or find the walking time needed for an extra-calorie target.
How the Treadmill Desk Calorie Calculator Works
This calculator uses workstation-specific walking values: 2.0 MET at or below 1.0 mph and 2.8 MET above 1.0 through 2.0 mph. Seated computer work is modeled at 1.3 MET.
Formula: extra kcal versus seated work = (selected treadmill-desk MET – 1.3) x 3.5 x body weight in kg / 200 x minutes
What the Results Show
The session result leads with extra calories versus seated work and immediately shows total treadmill-desk calories. Other outputs include the seated comparison, distance, selected bin, calorie rates, and work-walk time.
Why This Calculator Is Different
The calculator uses direct treadmill-workstation activity bins and a seated-computer baseline. Reverse mode targets incremental calories, not gross calories.
Assumptions and Limitations
The baseline is seated computer work, not zero energy use. Speed bins are categorical and change at exactly 1.0 mph. Desk height, typing efficiency, treadmill calibration, breaks, and intermittent stopping are not modeled.
