Enter the weight supported by the truss (lbs) and the weight of the truss (lbs) into the calculator to determine the Truss Efficiency.

Truss Efficiency Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Truss Efficiency.

Etruss = WS / WT *100

  • Where Etruss is the Truss Efficiency (%)
  • WS is the weight supported by the truss (lbs)
  • WT is the weight of the truss (lbs)

How to Calculate Truss Efficiency?

The following two example problems outline how to calculate the Truss Efficiency.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the weight supported by the truss (lbs). In this example, the weight supported by the truss (lbs) is given as 500.
  2. Next, determine the weight of the truss (lbs). For this problem, the weight of the truss (lbs) is given as 200.
  3. Finally, calculate the Truss Efficiency using the equation above:

Etruss = WS / WT *100

Inserting the values from above and solving the equation:

Etruss = 500 / 200 *100 = 250 (%)

Example Problem #2:

Using the same process as above, first define the variables required by the formula. In this case, these values are:

weight supported by the truss (lbs) = 375

weight of the truss (lbs) = 60

Entering these values yields:

Etruss = 375/60 *100 = 62.5 (%)
