Calculate volleyball approach touch, standing reach, or approach vertical jump in inches or centimeters.
Volleyball Approach Jump Formula
Approach vertical is the difference between the highest touch reached after an approach and the athlete's standing reach.
How the Calculation Works
The calculator uses the displayed formula directly. When another solve option is selected, it rearranges that same relationship and hides the field being calculated, so every visible numeric field is a required source input.
How to Use This Calculator
- Select approach touch, standing reach, or approach vertical.
- Choose inches or centimeters; each visible measurement displays the active unit beside its input.
- Enter the two visible source measurements and select Calculate.
- Use Reset before starting a different athlete or unit.
Worked Example
A 92-inch standing reach plus a 28-inch approach vertical produces a 120-inch approach touch.
Input and Result Guide
| Item | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Standing reach | Highest mark reached flat-footed |
| Approach vertical | Touch height minus standing reach |
| Approach touch | Highest mark reached after the approach |
Interpreting the Result
Compare results only when the underlying definition, competition, player or team scope, and reporting period are consistent. Keep the displayed decimal for rate comparisons; round a reverse-solved count only when reconstructing a real whole-number stat line.
Assumptions and Limitations
Use the same unit and measuring surface for both marks. Technique, fatigue, warm-up, reach hand, and measurement device can affect repeated tests.
Common Questions
Why did a field disappear after I changed Solve for?
The hidden field is the requested output. Enter the remaining visible values and the calculator will solve for that target.
Will my last successful calculation be restored?
Yes. The calculator saves enabled source values and the successful result in this browser. Reset clears that saved state.
