How the Calculation Works

Worked Example
Forty good, 20 playable, and 10 error passes equals 85.71% success. Thirty 3-passes, 20 2-passes, eight 1-passes, and two 0-passes averages 2.30.

Interpreting the Result
Compare results only when the underlying definition, competition, player or team scope, and reporting period are consistent. The success result is a percentage; the alternate result is a weighted average on a 0–3 scale. These outputs are not interchangeable.
Assumptions and Limitations
These are coaching conventions, not standardized NCAA calculated categories. Rating meanings and whether a pass is good or playable can vary by program. Categories must be mutually exclusive. Enter whole counts from 0 to 1,000,000 per category and at least one pass overall.
Common Questions
Why do the input fields change with the selected passing method?
Each method uses a separate set of source counts. The inactive group’s fields are removed from the active form and excluded from calculations. Its typed values may return when you switch back; select Reset to clear all fields.
Will my last successful calculation be restored?
Yes. The calculator saves active source inputs in this browser and recomputes the result when restored. Other same-origin scripts may access those values. Reset clears this calculator’s saved state.
