Winch Size Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the winch size. 

WS = GVW * 1.5

Variables:

  • WS is the winch size (lbs)
  • GVW is the Gross Vehicle Weight (lbs)

To calculate the winch size, multiply the Gross Vehicle Weight by 1.5. This will give you the minimum winch size needed for your vehicle. It is recommended to choose a winch size that is rated for at least 1.5 times the weight of your vehicle to ensure safety and efficiency.
