Match a pitch total to the current MLB and USA Baseball Pitch Smart rest table, or plan the largest pitch total compatible with a selected rest window.
Pitch Smart Pitch Count and Rest Calculator
This calculator applies the current MLB and USA Baseball Pitch Smart daily maximums and full-rest thresholds for pitchers ages 7 through 22. It can read an outing’s rest requirement or reverse the table for a planned rest window.
Daily Maximums
- Ages 7-8: 50 pitches per day.
- Ages 9-10: 75 pitches per day.
- Ages 11-12: 85 pitches per day.
- Ages 13-16: 95 pitches per day.
- Ages 17-18: 105 pitches per day.
- Ages 19-22: 120 pitches per day.
Rest Thresholds Change With Age
Ages 7-14 use 20, 35, 50, and 65-pitch breakpoints, subject to the age band’s daily maximum. Ages 15-16 use 30, 45, 60, and 75; ages 17-18 use 30, 45, 60, and 80. Ages 19-22 add a fifth rest day above 105 pitches.
Planned-Rest Mode
The inverse mode does not invent a continuous formula. It selects the largest published pitch ceiling whose required rest is no greater than the planned number of full days.
Using the Result
Pitch Smart is a workload framework. Eligibility, pitch-count administration, and any stricter limits remain controlled by the rules of the applicable league, school, team, or event.
