Estimate the human walker’s calories for a dog walk or find the time needed for a calorie target, with optional weekly totals.
How the Dog Walking Calorie Calculator Works
This calculator uses the direct 3.0-MET dog-walking activity or a controlled moderate or brisk walking value. The standard MET equation estimates the human walker’s gross and active calories.
Formula: gross kcal = MET x 3.5 x walker body weight in kg / 200 x minutes
What the Results Show
The primary result is gross calories or target time. Supporting outputs include active calories, gross and active rates, the chosen walk style, and optional weekly calories and minutes.
Why This Calculator Is Different
The typical option uses the direct dog-walking activity code. Dog mass is intentionally excluded because the human energy-cost model does not provide a dog-weight coefficient.
Assumptions and Limitations
The result estimates the human walker’s energy use only. The typical activity value already represents dog walking, including its common stop-start pattern. Hills, running with a dog, pulling force, and carrying a dog are excluded.
