The following formula is used to calculate the percent stenosis for a given normal and stenotic diameter.
PS = ((D_n - D_s) / D_n) * 100
Measurement note: This calculator computes percent diameter reduction (PS = (1 โ Ds/Dn) ร 100). Ensure Dn matches the reference diameter used in your imaging/reporting standard or lab protocol (for example, different carotid stenosis conventions), and note that some reports may use different definitions (including area-based stenosis). Results may differ from radiology/vascular lab reports.

- Measure the narrowest (stenotic) diameter (D_s) using the same imaging modality and units.
- Compute PS = ((D_n โ D_s) / D_n) ร 100.
- Sanity check: D_n must be greater than 0 and D_s should not exceed D_n; otherwise re-check measurements/units.
