Look up a DIBELS 8 benchmark ORF words-correct score in the published 2024–25 percentile tables for its grade and benchmark period.

For already-scored, on-grade DIBELS 8 benchmark ORF-WC results from the official 60-second assessment. Select the 2024–25 source group. Do not enter names or student identifiers.

Use the recorded whole-number ORF-WC score, not a practice-passage WCPM rate or ORF accuracy percentage. Technical input range: 0–1000 words correct.

Use the period recorded for the official benchmark administration. This lookup does not map a test date to a period.

DIBELS ORF Percentile Lookup Method

The result is the published ORF-WC cell for the entered whole-number score, selected grade and benchmark period. The 2024–25 reference records came from DIBELS 8 assessments entered into mCLASS or DIBELS Data Systems. Grade and period define the comparison group.

Ranks are returned as published. Values <1 and >99 appear as “Below 1st percentile” and “Above 99th percentile.” Only an explicitly marked plus row covers higher scores. Blank or unlisted cells remain unavailable; no interpolation or normal-distribution estimate fills a gap.

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the official, on-grade DIBELS 8 benchmark ORF words-correct score from the 60-second assessment.
  2. Choose dataset 2024–25, grade 1–8, and the recorded beginning-, middle-, or end-of-year benchmark period. Dataset year describes the reference data; the tool does not infer a period from a test date.
  3. Select Calculate, then open Lookup details and source to check the score row, comparison group and report table.

Practice rates, off-grade or progress-monitoring probes, other editions/providers, accuracy percentages and composite scores do not fit this lookup. The technical range is 0–1000 whole words correct, not a guarantee of a published rank for every score.

Worked Example

For a fictional Grade 3 end-of-year benchmark of 100 words correct, select 2024–25, grade 3 and EOY. The published cell is 29: 29th percentile. This is relative position in that reference group, not 29% of words read correctly.

FAQ

Why is a score unavailable?
Its selected source cell may be blank or unlisted. Grade 7 EOY score 243 is blank although 242 and 244 have ranks; the tool preserves that gap.

Does a percentile determine support or growth?
No. This lookup gives no support category, diagnosis, grade equivalent or intervention recommendation. Different periods have different reference groups; changes in rank are not a calculated growth rate.

What happens after editing?
The previous result remains labeled until you calculate again. Reset clears this tool’s saved inputs. Names and student identifiers are unnecessary.
