Enter the volume of resin settled by gravity (mL) and the percent slurry (%) into the Slurry Volume Calculator. The calculator will evaluate and display the Slurry Volume.

Slurry Volume Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Slurry Volume.

SV = Vgs * 100 / S
  • Where SV is the Slurry Volume (mL)
  • Vgs is the volume of resin settled by gravity (mL)
  • S is the percent slurry (%)

To calculate a slurry volume, multiply the volume of resin settled by gravity by 100, then divide by the slurry percentage.

How to Calculate Slurry Volume?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Slurry Volume.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the volume of resin settled by gravity (mL).
    1. The volume of resin settled by gravity (mL) is given as: 50.
  2. Next, determine the percent slurry (%).
    1. The percent slurry (%) is provided as: 20.
  3. Finally, calculate the Slurry Volume using the equation above:

SV = Vgs * 100 / %S

The values given above are inserted into the equation below:

SV = 50 * 100 / 20 = 250 (mL)

Example Problem #2:

The variables needed for this problem are provided below:

volume of resin settled by gravity (mL) = 60

percent slurry (%) = 30

Entering these values and solving gives:

SV = 60 * 100 / 30 = 200 (mL)
