Find your wrestling weight class from your body weight in pounds or kilograms, using 2026–27 NFHS high school or NCAA weight class limits.
Wrestling Weight Class Formula or Method
A wrestling class is an upper limit, not the nearest listed weight. The calculator converts the entered weight to pounds and selects the first class limit that is greater than or equal to it.
How the Calculation Works
Use 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg to compare the weight and class limits in the same unit without rounding before the lookup. Equality remains in that class. A weight above the largest limit has no matching class in the selected preset.
How to Use This Calculator
- Choose the exact NFHS option adopted by the state association, or the NCAA men’s or women’s preset.
- Enter or select every visible required input and unit.
- Select Calculate and review the primary result, supporting values, and steps.
- Use Reset before starting a new scenario.
Worked Example
Under the NFHS boys or mixed 14-class set, 143.8 lb fits the 144 lb class. A weight of 144.1 lb moves to the 150 lb class.
Input and Result Guide
| Item | How to use it |
|---|---|
| NFHS class set | Choose the exact 12-, 13-, or 14-class set adopted by the applicable state association. |
| NCAA men | Classes are 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197, and 285 lb. |
| NCAA women | Classes are 103, 110, 117, 124, 131, 138, 145, 160, 180, and 207 lb. |
| Entered weight | Use the event's official scale reading when checking an actual entry. |
| Allowances | No growth, consecutive-day, or event-specific allowance is added automatically. |
Interpreting the Result
Compare results only when the governing rules edition, competition format, units, and tracking definitions are consistent.
Assumptions and Limitations
This lookup does not certify eligibility, body composition, hydration, or weigh-in status. State associations and events can select different class sets or allowances, so verify the current rulebook and event information.
Common Questions
Does fitting a class limit certify eligibility?
No. This is an upper-limit lookup. Official certification, minimum body weight, moving-up restrictions, heavyweight minimums and event allowances require separate checks. It is not a weight-cut recommendation.
Will my last successful calculation be restored?
Yes. After Calculate, this calculator saves structured source inputs in this browser and recomputes them on return. Other same-origin scripts may access those values. Reset clears this calculator’s saved state.
