Enter the AC motor power (kW) and the speed (RPM) into the calculator to determine the AC Motor Torque.

AC Motor Torque Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the AC Motor Torque.

Tac = 9.5488 * ACP /S
  • Where Tac is the AC Motor Torque (N-m)
  • ACP is the AC motor power (kW)
  • S is the speed (RPM)

To calculate the AC motor torque, divide the AC motor power by the speed, the multiply by 9.5488.

How to Calculate AC Motor Torque?

The following two example problems outline how to calculate the AC Motor Torque.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the AC motor power (kW). In this example, the AC motor power (kW) is given as 15.
  2. Next, determine the speed (RPM). For this problem, the speed (RPM) is given as 40.
  3. Finally, calculate the AC Motor Torque using the equation above:

Tac = 9.5488 * ACP /S

Inserting the values from above and solving the equation with the imputed values gives:

Tac = 9.5488 * 15 /40 = 3.5808 (N-m)

Example Problem #2:

Using the same process as above, first define the variables required by the formula. In this case, these values are:

AC motor power (kW) = 41

speed (RPM) = 100

Entering these values yields:

Tac = 9.5488 * ACP /S = 3.91508 (N-m)
