How the Belt Squat To Back Squat Calculator Works
The calculator divides a paired back-squat load by a paired belt-squat displayed load, then applies that personal factor forward or backward. It does not add body mass or silently reinterpret a stack label.
Machine identity, pulley or lever geometry, belt position, stance, depth, and the displayed-load convention define where the factor is valid. These fields document the calibration rather than selecting a hidden coefficient.
Belt-Squat Transfer Formula
Formula: factor = paired back squat / paired belt squat; estimated back squat = belt-squat load x factor; required belt squat = back-squat target / factor
If a user supplies lower and upper factors, the forward interval multiplies directly. The reverse interval divides by the upper factor first and the lower factor second.
Choosing Comparable Inputs
Use a matched tested 1RM or the same 2-to-10-rep maximum. Enter external loads only. Keep the same machine, attachment, stance, depth, belt position, and interpretation of the displayed number.

Understanding Your Results
The estimated load leads. The breakdown preserves the personal pair, factor definition, method, performance basis, machine type, displayed-load basis, and optional range.
A 200 lb label on one belt-squat design may not represent the same resistance as 200 lb on another. Recalibration is the useful feature, not a universal ratio.
Worked Example
A 200 lb belt-squat 5RM paired with a 160 lb back-squat 5RM gives a factor of 0.8000. A 225 lb belt-squat performance under the same setup estimates 180 lb on the back squat.
Common Mistakes
Do not add body mass, apply a manufacturer lever ratio on top of a factor already calibrated from displayed loads, or move a factor to a different machine without a new pair.
Assumptions and Limitations
Direct paired 5RM research exists, but the usable relationship is machine-specific and accessible source records did not provide coefficients suitable for a universal calculator.
