Calculate a lacrosse goalkeeper’s save percentage from saves and goals allowed, or estimate either count from the other count and rate.
Lacrosse Save Percentage Formula
Save percentage is saves divided by shots on goal faced, where shots on goal faced equal saves plus goals allowed.
How the Calculation Works
The calculator uses the displayed relationship directly. Selecting another solve option rearranges that relationship and hides the requested output field, leaving only required source inputs visible.
How to Use This Calculator
- Select the result you want in the Solve for menu.
- Enter only the visible source values from one consistent sample.
- Select Calculate and review the primary answer, supporting values, and substituted steps.
- Use Reset before starting a different sample.
Worked Example
A goalkeeper with 72 saves and 18 goals allowed faced 90 shots on goal. Dividing 72 by 90 gives an 80.00% save percentage, or .800.
Input and Result Guide
| Item | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Saves | Whole-number goalkeeper saves credited in the selected sample. |
| Goals allowed | Whole-number goals charged to the goalkeeper in the same sample. |
| Shots on goal faced | The calculator derives this supporting total as saves plus goals allowed. |
| Save percentage | Saves divided by saves plus goals allowed, shown as a percent and three-decimal stat form. |
Interpreting the Result
Compare results only when scope, competition, period and statistics definition are consistent. Inverse results use the entered rate as exact; a fractional answer is an algebraic estimate, not a possible recorded count. Rounded reported percentages may fit several different stat lines. Empty samples have no defined percentage, and endpoint inverse cases may be impossible or nonunique.
Assumptions and Limitations
Use saves and goals allowed from the same goalkeeper sample and official statistics source. This relationship does not resolve scorer-table attribution questions, and inverse counts may be fractional.
Common Questions
Why did a field disappear after I changed Solve for?
The hidden field is the requested output. Enter the remaining visible values and the calculator will solve for that target.
Will my last successful calculation be restored?
Yes. After a successful Calculate, it saves a structured input snapshot in this browser and recomputes the restored result. Reset clears this calculator’s saved state.
