PPD and MPR Formulas

PPD = credited points ÷ recorded darts. MPR = credited Cricket marks ÷ recorded darts × 3.

Choose the Statistic First

Select points per dart when working with 301, 501, or another 01 game. Select marks per round when working with Cricket. The form then asks only for that statistic’s scoring total and dart count. Enter both numbers from the same player and the same set of games. A team total paired with one player’s darts will create a misleading rate.

Points, Marks, and Dart Counts

A point is the numerical value credited by the 01 scoring system. A Cricket mark records a qualifying single, double, or treble on a Cricket target. One mark is therefore not interchangeable with one point. Use the machine or league record for the official credited totals and counts, including the relevant treatment of misses, passed darts, and handicapped rounds.

Worked PPD Example

A recorded 301 points over 12 darts gives 301 ÷ 12 = 25.083333 points per dart. The primary answer displays 25.08 PPD. Multiplying the unrounded value by three gives 75.25 points per three darts. The display retains more digits in the supporting rows so a rounded primary answer does not appear to disagree with the calculation steps.

Worked MPR Example

A Cricket record containing 59 marks over 46 darts gives 59 ÷ 46 × 3 = 3.847826 marks per round, displayed as 3.85 MPR. The corresponding per-dart rate is about 1.2826 marks. This normalization still works when the final turn used fewer than three darts because the denominator is a dart count rather than a count of complete turns.

Combine Games by Their Dart Counts

Add the credited totals and recorded darts before dividing. Suppose one 01 sample has 120 points in 6 darts and another has 180 points in 12 darts. The combined PPD is 300 ÷ 18 = 16.67. Simply averaging the two game rates, 20 and 15, would give 17.50 and would give the shorter sample too much influence. Apply the same weighting principle to Cricket marks.

Validation and Interpretation

Zero credited points or marks is allowed when at least one dart was recorded. A zero dart count has no defined rate. The calculator rejects fractional counts and totals above the standard maximum of 60 points or three Cricket marks per dart. These checks catch obvious input mismatches; they do not reconstruct every throw or prove that a machine report used the correct league rules.

Limits of Comparison

Compare the same statistic, format, and counting convention across samples. A higher 01 PPD describes more credited points per recorded dart; a higher Cricket MPR describes more marks per normalized three-dart round. Neither number alone predicts a match winner. There is no direct conversion from PPD to MPR, and this tool does not assign an official skill class or handicap.
