How the Rigging Geometry Works
In sculling, two inboard lengths extend inward from pins separated by the span. The amount their handles cross at the midpoint is twice the inboard minus the span. Rearranging that identity solves any one of the three dimensions.

Sweep inboard guide
Concept2 recommends adding 29 to 31 centimeters to an established sweep spread for a reasonable inboard starting dimension. The calculator lets the user choose that offset and also reverses the relationship.
Why this is not an optimizer
Overall oar length, blade, crew, catch angle, boat speed, foot stretcher, pitch, and rowing style all affect the feel of the rig. Geometry alone cannot identify one best setting.
