Rugby Points Formula and Method
5 × 3 + 2 × 2 + 3 × 1 + 3 × 0 + 7 × 0 = 22
Separate ordinary tries from penalty tries before adding the score. A union penalty try is already a complete seven-point award, so entering it again as a try or conversion would double-count it. Select the code before entering the scorecard; the international league preset differs from union on try, penalty-goal and dropped-goal values.

Interpreting the Result
The event breakdown is useful for checking a scoreboard against a match report. Successful conversions can be fewer than ordinary tries, but cannot exceed them. A score total alone does not uniquely identify the combination of scoring events. Competition variations must be handled from the applicable rulebook.
Union penalty tries are separate seven-point awards with no conversion. The league preset uses international one-point drop goals; competition-specific variations are excluded.
Assumptions and Common Input Errors
Each scoring event contributes its selected code’s point value. Use credited records rather than mixing estimates with final totals. A blank field is not treated as zero; enter zero explicitly when it is a valid observation.
Saving and Revising a Scenario
