Estimate SkiErg calories burned from body weight, workout time and intensity, or the time needed to reach a calorie target, with an optional watts check.
How the Ski Erg Calorie Calculator Works
The primary result uses 2024 Adult Compendium activity categories for adults ages 19โ59: general ski-machine activity at 6.8 MET, slow-to-moderate cross-country double-poling at 10.5 MET, or fast-to-maximum double-poling at 18.0 MET. These are activity-category estimates, not watt-based intensity bins. An optional comparison converts watts or split to a Concept2-style display estimate.
Formula: gross kcal = MET x 3.5 x body weight in kg / 200 x active minutes. Active calories replace MET with MET minus 1. For an entered gross calorie target, minutes = target kcal / gross kcal per minute.
What the Results Show
The result shows estimated gross calories or active time for the entered target, followed by active calories, gross calorie rate and any selected monitor comparison. Calculation details retain hourly rate, MET-minutes, duration and optional monitor power, split, distance, work and display calories.
Why This Calculator Is Different
Activity-category MET estimates remain separate from the monitor comparison. The latter preserves the published legacy Concept2 formula, display Cal/hour = 300 + 4 x watts / 1.1639, using a fixed 175 lb reference and the entered duration. No rowing-specific body-weight correction is applied to SkiErg. This is not a personal active-calorie measurement or a guarantee of exact agreement with every current PM firmware.
Assumptions and Limitations
The selected category should represent the entered active work; rest periods and changes of intensity need separate estimates. Body weight must convert to 35โ225 kg, and active duration must be greater than zero and no more than 180 minutes in both solve modes. Optional monitor performance must correspond to 25โ800 W; these are calculator model ranges, not recommendations. Individual physiology, technique and device calculations can differ. An entered calorie target is not a health or exercise recommendation.
