Compare a West Point Candidate Fitness Assessment practice session with published raw averages and maxima without claiming an official score or pass result.
A Raw Practice Comparison, Not a Score
West Point does not publish a public composite scoring formula or universal pass cutoff for candidates. This tool therefore compares raw practice results only. It never adds event values, assigns weights, predicts admission, or issues an official pass or fail.
The comparison uses the informational averages and maxima in West Point's CFA Overview for the basketball throw, pull-ups or female flexed-arm hang, shuttle run, modified sit-ups, push-ups, and one-mile run.
| Reference | Male average / maximum | Female average / maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Basketball throw | 69 / 102 ft | 43 / 68 ft |
| Pull-ups | 9 / 18 | 2 / 7 |
| Flexed-arm hang | Not applicable | 11-second average; no maximum shown |
| Shuttle run | 8.8 / 7.8 sec | 10.7 / 8.6 sec |
| Modified sit-ups | 78 / 95 | 77 / 95 |
| Push-ups | 48 / 75 | 28 / 50 |
| One-mile run | 6:48 / 5:20 | 7:52 / 6:00 |
Why Official Documents Can Differ
West Point materials display informational averages that are not identical across all brochures. This page uses the CFA Overview values verified on August 22, 2026 and names that choice. The figures are descriptive references, not standards.
Practice the Official Sequence
Use an authorized administrator and the current instructions. The test sequence places the basketball throw first, followed by pull-ups or flexed-arm hang, shuttle run, modified sit-ups, push-ups and the one-mile run. Extra attempts, rest, aids, surface, measurement and technique can make a practice entry incomparable with an official result.
Safety and Admission Limits
A calculator comparison cannot provide medical clearance or predict an admissions decision. Warm up appropriately, use an emergency action plan and qualified supervision, and stop for concerning symptoms. Only West Point can determine an official CFA result.
