Estimate calories burned on an e-bike ride from your weight, assist level and ride time or distance, with regular and stationary bike efforts to compare.
How the E-Bike Ride Calorie Calculator Works
The selected assist level or bike effort maps to a documented 2024 Compendium activity value. Time can be entered directly or derived from ride distance and average speed.
Formula: gross kcal = e-bike MET x 3.5 x body weight in kg / 200 x minutes
What the Results Show
Results include gross and active energy, gross calorie rate, duration, MET-minutes and a same-duration6.8-MET comparison. Distance mode derives time from distance and moving speed and reports energy per distance. Target mode inverts a gross calorie target.
Why This Calculator Is Different
It compares broad Compendium activity categories while holding entered body mass and duration constant. That is a scenario comparison, not evidence that changing support causes the displayed calorie difference on an identical route. Speed only determines time, and the time needed for an unassisted ride can differ.
Assumptions and Limitations
Support labels summarize adult population-average categories, not individual calorimetry or motor-assist percentages. Gross energy includes a standard resting component; active energy subtracts1MET. Terrain, bike mass, wind, rider power, stop time and metabolism vary. The35โ225kg and480-minute bounds are calculator scope, not health or exercise safety limits.
