How the Peloton Ride Calorie Calculator Works
Peloton Total Output is mechanical work in kilojoules. Dividing it by ride seconds produces average watts, which feeds the ACSM cycling equation together with body weight.
Formula: gross kcal = (7 x body weight in kg + 10.8 x average watts) x minutes / 200
What the Results Show
The primary result is calories or target duration. Supporting outputs include active calories, Total Output, Average Output, watts per kilogram, oxygen cost, estimated efficiency, and an optional comparison with displayed calories.
Why This Calculator Is Different
The calculator directly accepts the Peloton metric saved after a ride instead of treating output kilojoules as calories or applying a generic cycling MET.
Assumptions and Limitations
The equation is restricted to 50 through 300 average watts. Peloton’s display can differ because device calibration and any profile or heart-rate inputs are outside this model.
