Single Elimination Bracket Formula and Method
Championship games = teams − 1 = 11
Each championship-bracket game removes one contender, so eliminating all but one of N entrants requires N minus one games. The next power of two supplies a balanced bracket size, while empty first-round positions become byes. A bye advances an entrant without adding a played game.

Interpreting the Result
The optional third-place game is outside the championship path and adds one match when at least four entrants are present. Rounds are bracket stages, not necessarily days. The counts do not choose seeds, resolve qualification games or price consolation events; enter only the participants that start this bracket.
This is single elimination with all byes in the first round. Seeding, consolation brackets and venue scheduling are separate decisions.
Assumptions and Common Input Errors
Each championship-bracket loss eliminates one team. Use credited records rather than mixing estimates with final totals. A blank field is not treated as zero; enter zero explicitly when it is a valid observation.
