Pluto Weight Formula
The calculator uses one of two formulas depending on which tab you select.
From Earth weight:
W_pluto = W_earth * (0.62 / 9.80665)
From mass:
W_pluto = m * 0.62
- W_pluto = your weight on Pluto (N, lb, or scale-kg)
- W_earth = your weight on Earth (same unit)
- m = your mass (kg or lbm)
- 0.62 = Pluto's surface gravity in m/s²
- 9.80665 = Earth's standard gravity in m/s²
Pluto's gravity is roughly 6.3% of Earth's, so the conversion factor between Earth and Pluto weight is about 0.0632. Mass does not change between planets; only weight does. The "kg on a scale" output assumes a spring scale calibrated to Earth gravity.

Example and FAQ
Example. A person weighs 160 lb on Earth. Their Pluto weight is 160 × (0.62 / 9.80665) = 160 × 0.0632 ≈ 10.1 lb.
Does my mass change on Pluto? No. A 70 kg person still has 70 kg of mass on Pluto. Only weight, the force from gravity, changes.
Why is Pluto's gravity so low? Pluto has a small mass (about 0.22% of Earth's) and a small radius (about 1,188 km). Both factors reduce surface gravity.
Would I float away? No. You could jump much higher and farther, but Pluto's gravity still pulls you back to the surface.
What value of Pluto gravity is used? 0.62 m/s², the figure published by NASA for Pluto's surface. Some sources cite 0.58 to 0.66 m/s² depending on the mass and radius estimates used.
